Hoddesdon, 17 June 2025 — The Hoddesdon Rotary Club proudly hosted its annual Technology Tournament on 17th June at The Spotlight, Hoddesdon, bringing together over 25 enthusiastic teams from local schools for a day of innovation, teamwork, and engineering excitement.

Participating schools were Richard Hale, The Broxbourne School, Chauncy School, St Edmund’s College, Haileybury College, Haileybury Turnford and Hailey Hall. The challenge? To design and build a rocket capable of launching a capsule into the air — a task that tested students’ creativity, problem-solving, and technical skills.

The event was supported by members of neighbouring Rotary Clubs, along with a dedicated team of friends and volunteers who assisted with judging and logistics throughout the day. Their combined efforts ensured a smooth and inspiring experience for all involved.

Local dignitaries were also in attendance, adding a sense of occasion and community pride. They took part in the awards ceremony, presenting prizes to the top-performing teams and commending all participants for their ingenuity and teamwork.

“This tournament is a fantastic opportunity for young people to engage with STEM in a hands-on, collaborative way,” said Chris Waddington, Chair of the Vocation Committee. “We’re incredibly proud of the creativity and enthusiasm shown by every team.”

The event continues to grow in popularity each year, reinforcing the Rotary Club’s commitment to youth development and community engagement through education and innovation.
