The Rotary Foundation

Contact Meirion Morris: Foundation Committee Chairman (2010 - 2011)

Rotary's own charity. Funds are used to promote worldwide peace and understanding through humanitarian, educational and cultural exchanges for young people.

Matching grants are negotiable with Rotary International to double funds we raise locally for worthy projects.

Examples of what we do:

  • Ambassadorial scholars are sponsored to spend exchange years overseas on agreed project work, supported by Rotary in the countries concerned.
  • Hoddesdon Rotarian and Past District Governor Meirion Morris headed the District Group Study Exchange team of four UK young people (an NHS Trust Risk Manager, beauty therapist, charity fund raiser and policeman) who spent a month in Houston Texas living with local Rotarians and gaining vocational experience in US organisations. On their return they gave 26 presentations to Rotary Clubs in the District.
